Dear Brother and Sister Cluff,

We were very excited to welcome Elder Peacock at the airport in Porto after his long flight from the MTC. We are very pleased to have your son serving in the Portugal Porto Mission with us. We are grateful for all your efforts in raising such a worthy son and for your sacrifices in sending him here to serve the Lord as a full-time missionary.

When we arrived home from the airport, we had dinner and I interviewed each of the 9 new missionaries. Following a brief meeting and the interviews, the missionaries slept in the mission home. After a morning of orientation and training, the missionaries had lunch with their new companions, and then headed out to their assigned areas to work. We have prayerfully chosen the best missionaries possible to be trainers for the new missionaries. Your son’s new companion is Elder Pilz from Germany, and they are serving in the Matosinhos Ward just north of Porto on the coast.

Please know that Sister Walton and I feel our greatest responsibility is the spiritual, emotional, and physical well being of our missionaries. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

With love and gratitude,

President Charles W. Walton

Elder Pilz (Germany) and Elder Peacock!

President and Sister Walton with Elder Peacock

Words cannot express the joy that filled my heart when I received this email from the Mission President!  I am so grateful that Elder Peacock made it there safely, and for how well he was received.  The look on Elder Peacock's face says it all!  He is SUPER EXCITED to finally be in the country of his service.  He knows the Lord will bless him to be able to accomplish all that is required of him.  He will be a wonderful missionary to the people of Portugal and already loves them so much!  He is ready to now GO FORTH AND SERVE!!!
