Letter from Elder Peacock...5/30/2011

This week was good.  It was mine and Elder Wheatley`s first full week together and we are still adjusting to all the changes.  Everything is going really good.  We went to a palace today to do a little sight seeing, it was really cool and my first time to see the Douro River.  I took tons of awesome pictures.  And we went with a couple other companionships...it was a good time.  I am glad the package made it safely.  I get a little worried about the Portuguese mail system sometimes.  Not a whole lot going on this last week.  We did a lot of door knocking and street contacting.  That will be awesome for Zack to get to do the baptism for grandpa.  That will be an amazing experience!  Something kind of cool happened the other day.  I got to give a blessing and it was the first one I have ever done as a missionary, and I did it in Portuguese!  It was really cool.   They are having a huge festival in Matosinhos right now.  It lasts a month and reminds me of the "Cowboy Days" thing they do in Kanab, but about 50 times bigger.  It is so huge and the whole town is decorated for a whole month.  It is kind of neat.  But, we had to walk through it the other day to get to the chapel and I looked in one of the booths and I saw a Native American guy.  He looked like he was straight from the res. :) So I thought, "I got to talk to this guy" because he was definitely from South America and a Lamanite.  So on our way back home we stopped and I started talking to him.  He was from Ecuador and his ancestors were the Mayans!  It was really cool and then I left him with a Book of Mormon.  Good day :)
I hope everything is going well and I bet pirates was good.

I love you,

Elder Peacock
